My Process to Get You Organized

Are you considering hiring a professional organizer to help get your home in order? It's understandable to feel apprehensive about inviting a stranger into your personal space and having them make decisions about your belongings.

Phaedra Professional Organizer

To alleviate any concerns you may have, I would like to share my process with you. While every professional organizer may have their own approach, I hope to provide you with some insights that will make you feel more confident about seeking the help you need.

The Intake Call

Our first step is to schedule a video chat where we can have a face-to-face conversation. During this call, I will ask a few questions about why you want to get organized and those who share the space with you, such as partners, kids, and roommates. I will also explain my pricing structure and answer any questions you may have. Additionally, I will request a video tour of the areas you want to organize. These questions and the video tour are designed to help me understand the challenges you are facing.

It is possible that at this stage, we may decide that we are not a good match. If that happens, there are never any hard feelings on my part. I will recommend other resources or service providers that could be better suited to your needs.

Ready to Proceed?

If we determine that we are a good fit, I will email you a form to choose the right organizing package that meets your needs. Once you have selected the organizing package right for you, you will be prompted to make a payment and sign a Service Agreement.

The Organizing Session

I recommend scheduling organizing sessions in four-hour increments because it allows us to get a lot done without exhausting your energy levels. Longer sessions can lead to burnout, and I want to ensure this is an energizing and inspiring experience for you. During the session, I will check in with you to see how you are feeling, and if you feel overwhelmed, we can wind things down and schedule another time to continue the work.

I believe that working together is the most effective approach. We will make decisions together, such as where to start and how to use the space and its items. While I encourage decluttering, I won't put pressure on you. I understand that letting go of certain things can be emotional, so we can re-evaluate if that item fits your needs later in the process. As you have more spaces organized, you may have room to keep it.

We'll start by selecting a specific area of the room to work on. I'll take items off shelves or out of bins and inquire about them. Then, we'll sort them into appropriate categories. Witnessing the piles that form as we sort through everything might be overwhelming. Eventually, a pattern will emerge as we categorize the items. As we begin placing the items back on the shelves, the organizing process will feel like a puzzle coming together. During the session, we'll group the items into categories and place them in containers throughout the designated space for easy access. You'll begin to see a system take shape! Additionally, I'll provide labels to help you remember where everything belongs.

Wrapping Up

Towards the end of the session, we will start putting items back in place and box up any donations. Some of my packages include dropping off donations on your behalf. We will also review what we accomplished during the session and discuss the direction of the next session. I may suggest tasks for you before the next session, but there is no judgment if you cannot complete them.

Final Thoughts

I want you to feel comfortable and not judged for the state of your home or the items you decide to keep. Everyone's journey is different, and seeking help is a positive step towards achieving your goals and relaxing in your home. While the process may seem messy, the rewards are worth it if you keep up the hard work.
